Ukrainian police has revealed and shut down over than 1,329 gambling establishments in 2017. This information was reported by the press center of the Department of Economic Security (DES) of the National Police of Ukraine.
It is noted that most of the illegal gambling halls were well masked: they worked under the sign of an operator of the state lottery or without any signs. Usually those halls were situated in non-residential and basement premises.
“During the investigations, law enforcement officers confiscated almost 18,400 pieces of gambling equipment, including slot machines, payment terminals, roulettes and poker tables,” the report says. The total cost of the seized equipment is 43 million UAH. Also, during authorized searches, police officers seized 4.5 million UAH in cash.
In 2017 law enforcement authorities opened 647 criminal cases against operators based on the facts of illegal gambling activities. As for players, 315 administrative protocols were issued in 2017. The fine for illegal gamblers in Ukriane is 425 UAH (12.5 EURO).
