The Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Enterprise and Technology, has prepared a law that will allow effective counteracting organized crime, especially tax crime.
In 2018, the turnover of licensed bookmakers in Poland will reach approx. PLN 5.1 billion, which is about 55% more than last year. This means that the state budget will be credited with the amount of PLN 612 million for the tax on games.
There are already over 5.4 thousand domains on the list of prohibited sites with illegal gambling – according to data from the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Finance reminds that telecommunications and payment companies’ may be threatened with up to PLN 250,000 penalty for breaking the gambling law.
The Ministry of Finance boasts that the changes in the regulations caused a shrinking of the gray area in gambling games from 84 to 52 percent of the market. If these figures are correct, it means that more than half of the establishments are organized illegally.
