Belarus toughens rules for online bookmakers

Requirement for online bookmakers will get stricter. According to Vladimir Mukvich, Deputy Minister for Taxes and Duties of Belarus, the changes will come into force in August 2019.

In particular, bookmakers will no longer be able to operate without an appropriate online license. Thus, the leading betting companies have one year to go through the full licensing procedure and get a permit from the local authorities. Strict sanctions will be applied to bookmakers operating without a new online betting license.

Moreover, all online bookmakers will be connected to a special cash system to monitor financial activity. As for the land-based bookmakers, these betting companies will face no changes in Belarus. It is worth mentioning, that online casinos will start legal operation in Belarus in April next year.
