Latvia bans online gambling during Covid-19 quarantine

Online gambling has been banned in Latvia for the period of Covid-19 lockdown. These measures have been come into force after country’s government rejected to lift the ban for igaming introduced by coronavirus bill, signed on 22nd March,

Thus, all types of gambling are banned in Latvia. Now all online operators are ordered to stop gambling activities. It is reposted that the temporary ban will last till 14th April and is likely to be extended. Expert say, that depending on the situation, gambling operations can be banned for up to three months.

It is worth mentioning that online gambling arket has shown a good growth in 2019 .  iGaming revenue increased by 32.8% to €54.7m.
