Moscow is the capital of illegal gambling in Russia

In nine months of 2018, Russian police have opened 1,149 criminal probes into illegal gambling in the territory of Russia, TASS informs.

For the last incomplete four years, the Investigative Committee has passed 3,176 criminal cases to court. 260 criminal cases involving 470 people have been passed to court in Moscow since 2015, compared to 163 cases in St Petersburg and 159 cases in Krasnodarsky kray (Azov City gambling zone is located there).  The total numbers of criminal probes into illegal gambling are as follows: in 2015 – 1564, in 2016 – 1693, in 2017 – 1680, in nine months of 2018 – 1149.

As it was informed earlier in September, Moscow police stopped the activity of 15 gaming clubs and casinos, and also conducted more than 80 searches in offices. More than 100 people were arrested. An illegal casino in the territory of North Korean embassy was involved into the case.
