New gambling law to boost Ukrainian casino industry

Ukraine expects the second reading of the 2713-d draft law on gambling. According to experts, if approved the new provisions of the law may attract a lot of domestic and foreign operators to the market. The second reading date is still not scheduled, but it is expected to take place this autumn.

Taxes is the main ammendment expected to be introduced by the draft law. Currently licenced operators (both online and offline) mostly lose money due to high taxes and license cost. The adoption of the new las may change everything.

It is expected that the GGR tax rate will be the lawest in Europe. More that 150 different ammendments has been submitted to the parliament commettee including some concerning the GGR tax proposed up to 40%. However, it is expected the rate will be at 10% as it was proposed during the first reading. The market also expects to make the tax free winning higher to attract for international punters. Currently a player pays no taxes for winning less than 1500EUR.
