Totalizator Sportowy, the owner of the LOTTO brand, is implementing in its sales points an innovative service of an international cashless payment of winnings on Visa and Mastercard payment cards. Customers who win Lotto games in the range of PLN 100 to 2,280 will be able to collect money on a payment card at the point of sale. The eService consortium, PKO BP and the company IGT Poland, the provider of the Totalizator Sportowy lottery system, are responsible for implementing the innovation.
The solution was launched as a pilot at 10 LOTTO points in Warsaw as early as July, and after successful testing, the service will be available in over 900 own network branches throughout Poland.
The implementation of winnings card payment is another nod to our customers who were looking for alternative methods of collecting winnings. In other countries, you can find solutions related to the payment of winnings on pre-paid or loyalty cards. In cooperation with our partners, we went a step further, thanks to which we became one of the pioneers not only in the global lottery market, but also in the entire retail industry – said Olgierd Cieślik, President of the Totalizator Sportowy Board.
As emphasized by Totalizator Sportowy, the introduction of payment of winnings to a payment card is another step of the company towards encouraging customers to use the cashless payment system.
Most Poles appreciate the convenience and security of cashless payments and expect the option of paying by card in places where they shop, use services, rest or entertainment. Among other things, thanks to this, Poland is one of the world’s leading countries in which the most contactless payments are made. From today, it is also the first country in Europe where you can not only pay with your card, but also take money to a bank account – emphasized Joanna Seklecka, President of the eService Management Board.
How do you pick up your winnings on the card?
After confirming the win, all you have to do is place your paycard to the terminal at one of over 900 Totalizator Sportowy’s own network points. The service works in both Mastercard and Visa. In the case of Visa card holders, funds can be transferred directly to the player’s account in real time. All this thanks to the first in Europe and one of the first applications in the world of Visa Direct based on a payment terminal.
It is also important to keep a copy of the printout from the terminal confirming the successful completion of the payment transaction for the card.
