Poland – Piotr Walczak is the new Head of the National Tax Administration

At the request of the Finance Minister, the Prime Minister appointed, on June 12th, 2019, Chief Superintendent Piotr Walczak for the position of the Head of the National Treasury Administration (KAS).

Piotr Walczak is a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Łódź and post-graduate studies at the University of Łódź in the field of accounting and financial management and crime issues – European Postgraduate Studies in Crime Problems.

From 1997, he was associated with the Customs Service as an officer carrying out tasks in the field of control and fight against crime. In the years 2007-2012 and 2014-2017 he held managerial positions in the Customs Service: deputy director and director of customs chambers in Łódź and Kielce. In 2012-2014 he served in the Ministry of Finance, in 2012 he participated in the International EU / UNDP EUBAM Mission in Moldova and Ukraine, where he was responsible for the construction of the mobile Customs Service in Moldova.

In 2017, he served as deputy head of the Customs Service and coordinator for the establishment of the Department for Combating Economic Crime in the Ministry of Finance.

From March 22nd, 2017, he held the position of Deputy Head of the State Treasury, overseeing the Analysis Department, the Customs Department and the Department for Combating Economic Crime in the Ministry of Finance.

Decorated with the Silver Medal for Merit from the Police, Medal for Merit from Nadwiślański Border Guard Department and Bronze Badge of Merit from Customs Service.

May 11th, 2018 appointed by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, to the rank of Chief Superintendent of the Customs and Tax Service in the General Corps.

He is married, has two children.
