POLAND

Poland – The finance minister will leave his position. Who will replace him?

After less than two months of office, the Minister of Finance Marian Banaś says goodbye to the position.

Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) party submitted the candidacy of Marian Banaś to the position of president of the Supreme Audit Office – said the head of the PiS club Ryszard Terlecki.

Marian Banaś, who formally did not resign, is to replace Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, whose term ends on 27th of August.

Marian Banaś is likely to be replaced in the ministry by the prime minister himself. Perhaps supported by one of the deputy ministers. There were ideas of finding a new finance minister from outside, but two months before the election, it is difficult to find a serious candidate for this position.

It would be bad if we had the fifth finance minister in this term, after Paweł Szałamacha, Mateusz Morawiecki, Teresa Czerwińska and Marian Banaś. Therefore, the new finance minister will probably not be there.

The request for the appointment of Banaś as the head of the Supreme Audit Office is to be considered at the next Sejm meeting, on Wednesday.
