After 30 months from the publication of the previous regulation, the government decided to revise the list of companies of significant importance for the economy, which are strategic companies.
In the draft regulation published on Wednesday, there were 31 entities. Compared to the previous list, it has been enriched with Totalizator Sportowy, supporting the statutory state monopoly in the field of gambling. The creation of a list of strategic companies is provided for in the Act of December 2016 on the management of state-owned property.
The first such list was announced in January 2017. Since then, it has not been adjusted despite formal and legal changes in several entities. An update of the regulation was necessary, among others due to the creation of two new companies of high importance for the state economy. These are the Polska Grupa Lotnicza (Polish Aviation Group) and the Central Communication Port.
It was also necessary to delete two companies included in the previous list, which are PLL LOT with its registered office in Warsaw and Katowicki Holding Węglowy with its registered office in Katowice. Treasury shares in PLL LOT were contributed to Polska Grupa Lotnicza. That is why the basis for recognizing it as a company of significant importance to the national economy has disappeared. In exchange, the Polish Aviation Group was introduced to the list.
On the other hand, Katowicki Holding Węglowy was taken over by Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń and deleted from the National Court Register. Therefore, both companies ceased to meet the conditions for inclusion in the list of companies of significant importance for the state economy.
