Sberbank CIB analysts conducted a large-scale study of the betting market in Russia. According to researchers, Russian players prefer not to risk big money.
Researchers have found that 10% of the middle-class representatives in Russia bet on sports. At the same time, 54% of players bet weekly, and about 41% place 2-3 bets at a time. Nevertheless, bettors prefer to avoid major risks. Usually, the size of a bet does not exceed ₽250.
Most of the respondents (81%) place bets online. At the same time, 69% of the players who still use the offline betting shops services said they were ready to try online betting.
According to Sberbank CIB, the average annual growth rate of the betting market in Russia until 2022 will be 7%. At the same time, the growth of its legal online segment will be as much as 30%.
Experts believe that by 2022 the market volume will reach ₽1.52 trillion, ₽742 billion of which will be accounted for online bookmakers. For comparison, at the end of 2018, these figures were ₽1.15 trillion and ₽260 million, respectively.
According to analysts, the main factor in the growth of the betting market in Russia will be the transfer of players to the legal bookmeakers, which has become possible due to changes in legislation.
