Russian publication Kommersant.ru has published an article about the development of Russian betting market. In a comment made by Liga Stavok, the bookmaker’s representative informed that 70% of bets are now placed online, with the prevailing share of mobile devices.
“All this does not mean that offline betting has no future. On the contrary, studies show that the presence of land-based betting shops contributes to high brand confidence. Betting shops have their own dedicated target audience. These are fans who watch matches together. For them, the atmosphere, the opportunity to discuss the game moment are important,” said Olga Zhuravskaya, First Vice President of Liga Stavok.
Nevertheless, the number of betting shops operated by the bookmaker will be reduced in cities where their presence is excessive. New land based betting points will be opened only in those locations where the land based format will most likely be in demand by the local audience. As a rule, these are cities with stadiums and sport clubs, where there is a general interest in sports among the residents.
It is worth mentioning that online betting was legalized only three years ago.
