Twitch Video Slots Category Sets new Records

Since its launch in June 2011, Twitch has grown to become one of the largest streaming platforms in the world. The platform currently boasts 9.36M active streamers and a 7-day average of over 2.9M viewers that have viewed 110M hours of content so far in 2021.

The majority of that content is in the site’s gaming categories with channels dedicated to games such as Fortnite, DOTA, and casino games such as poker proving to be incredibly popular.

In fact, it’s a casino game that is now considered one of the fastest growing categories on the platform with active slots streamers now numbering in their thousands.

A recent analysis  of the slots category on twitch has revealed that slots streamers set three new records during the month of May.

  • A new record of 130,622 hours streamed in the Twitch Slots category beating the previous record by over 10,000 hours.
  • A record number of viewers in the slots category of 204,468.
  • An average of 47,421 viewers watching the slots category — up from 30,533 in April.

Some key points and highlights from the study include:

  • Slots was the 13th most watched category on Twitch in May. This saw the category move up 4 spots from April, eclipsing online poker which ranks 45th ( down 8 spots since April).
  • The category had 6,438 channels streaming during May, a 19.6% increase from April.
  • The lowest number of viewers in the category was 7,694 on Wednesday 5th.
  • The average number of channels streaming in the slots category during May was 175.
  • The top streamer in slots was once again ROSHTEIN who streamed 388 hours.
  • The lowest number of channels streaming slots at any one time was 121 on Monday the 3rd.
  • The peak number of followers gained across the slots category was 21,981 on Sunday the 30th.
  • The highest number of channels streaming slots at any one time was 263 on Friday the 7th.
  • The highest viewer to streamer ratio was on Monday the 24th at 1,215.93.
  • The lowest viewer ratio was on Wednesday the 5th at 49.32.
