The press service of the Moscow Department of Regional Security and Anti-Corruption reports about 39 criminal cases involving illegal gambling opened in Moscow just in the first half of 2018.
A total of 158 slot machines and 14 gambling tables were seized during 120 searches. Six illegal gambling establishments were closed. 39 criminal cases were filed. Moreover, inspections held by local authorities revealed 24 slot machines masked as payment terminals. It is reported about 22 violations by bookmakers. 48 bookmakers offices were checked and more than 2 thousand pieces of gambling equipment seized.
Lately, a law providing new punishments for illegal gambling has been signed. From now on, the organizers of unlicensed gambling will face a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles. In addition, the courts will be able to punish them with compulsory public works for up to 240 hours, restriction of freedom for up to four years, or deprivation for up to two years.
