More than half of all Russian punters prefer to bet on football matches. The second most popular game is tennis. However, it is 4 times less popular than football. This was informed by Deputy Director General of betting company “Liga Stavok” Alexander Egorov, while speaking at the Sport Leaders Global Forum in St. Petersburg last week.
“The most popular type of sports to bet on is football, 52% of punters bet on football matches. Tennis is on the second place with 14%, the third place belongs to basketball with 12%. 8% of sports fans bet on hockey, and 6% on volleyball, ” said Alexander Egorov said.
According to another Russian bookmaker company Leon, cybersport audience in Russia also demonstrates constant growth, the segment remains one of the most promising areas for bookmakers.
As a result of an open poll of 1,450 respondents, Nielsen experts found out that the Russian e-sports industry shows an annual growth of 23-25%. Earlier it was reported that over the past three years, the number of bets on eSports competitions has increased eight times, which is significantly higher than any other sports competition.
