As part of its annual transparency reports, for the first time Apple has released data for App Store government removal requests from 2018. The company has removed 10 gambling-related applications from the Russian App Store.
In total, Apple received 80 requests from 11 offices to remove 634 applications. The reasons to remove the applications were not disclosed. However, Apple did break down the topics of the takedown requests with an apparent predominance coming from illegal gambling apps:
The largest number of 517requests was received from the Chinese government. The requests has been also sent by Norway, Austria, the Netherlands, Turkey, Lebanon, Vietnam, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia.
