Armenia to introduce gambling zones

Armenian authorities voted for the bill, which provides for the moving all gambling venues to special zones. If the parliament supports the bill it will enter into force.

According to the adopted amendments to the new gambling legislation, gambling will be banned in public places. It is also proposed to block access to online casinos in public facilities (cafes, bars, restaurants, hotels, Internet clubs, gas stations, shopping centers, etc.). Otherwise, the owners of the venues will be fined one million drams (about 2 thousand dollars).

It is reported that after the entry into force of the amendments, all types of gambling activities will be banned in Armenia, and allowed only in Meghri, Jermuk, Sevan and Tsakhkadzor gambling zones.

In case of violations of the territorial location of their gambling sites, the owners of gambling companies will be heavily fined.

Atom Janjughazyan, who is the Minister of Finance of Armenia, noted that the permission for gambling in special gambling zones will have a positive effect on the fight against illegal gambling in the country.
