A post-soviet state to create online casino monopoly

Several years ago Kazakhstan has made lottery industry a private monopoly via issuing a 15 year license. It is likely that the same is going to happen with the online casinos. Local mass media report that Kazakhstan plans to review the law on gambling.

At the moment, online gambling is prohibited throughout the state, but the illegal online casino business is flourishing. Nothing, including the criminal code, stops citizens of Kazakhstan from gambling online.

The government wants to eliminate illegal online gambling and therefore considers creating a private monopoly to provide legitimate online gambling services. It is planned that in this way local players will be able to gamble legally, and the state treasury will be funded with tax revenues from monopoly activities.
