Kazbegi district of Georgia is located in the north of the country, right on the border with Russia. It is very popular among Russian tourists mostly because of the active development of gambling business in the region. Georgian authorities say they are about to open another casino right at the Russian-Georgian border.
Georgian government plans to create a completely legal premium casino, which, moreover, will be free of annual tax payments. The funds from the state budget has already been allocated for construction of the casino.
Operation of casinos in Georgia is not prohibited. Moreover, in many resort areas there are gambling establishments that can be visited by any citizen of a country or a foreigner.
The chairman of the Georgian Council of Ministers, Vano Merabishvili, has already signed a decree that allows the construction of a modern and prestigious gambling zone on the border with Russia. The laws concerning casinos in Georgia positively affect the budget of the state as a whole and those regions in which gambling zones exist, in particular.
According to analysts’ calculations, the annual income from each casino lies between 100 thousand and 5 million Georgian GEL. In the recount to EURO, this amount is up to 1.6 million EURO.
The authorities of the Georgian government do not comment on why the new gambling institution will be opened so close to the border with Russia, however, analysts believe the answer to this question is quite obvious: Georgia needs income from the gambling business, and Russian tourists are ready to pay.
It is worth mentioning that the most popular Georgian gambling zones are also located in Tbilisi, Batumi, Bakuriani and Signagi.
