April 1 is the day when the decree on the legalization of online casinos in Belarus comes into force. The document was signed by President Alexander Lukashenko back in August 2018, and today Belarus joins the club of states where online gambling is legal.
The decree has also changed some rules for all type of gambling. For example, according to the new law, the age threshold for players of both virtual and land based gambling establishments has also been raised. Gambling is now available to citizens over the age of 21.. Each player must undergo a mandatory identification procedure.
Online casinos have the right to operate only under an official license. In addition, the companies must have a security deposit on their bank accounts to ensure payout of the winnings. Its size reaches more than 1 million dollars.
New rules also require all online casinos to be connected to a special computer cash register system to control the cash flow.
